Story of the Bell

After the fire destroyed the church building in May of 2002
we almost immediately had plans drawn and would liked
to have had a new building built without delay.

God has more patience with us than we do with ourselves. We soon found out that things sometime move more slowly than we would like.

It took almost eight months to get the permits from
the State and County building authorities okayed.  As it
turned out this was a good thing because we were able to
refine our plans and make changes that would not been
thought of had we started rebuilding right away after the
fire.

The 900 pound bell that was in the tower of the old church
fell into the basement when the structure supporting it
burned away.  It was still intact but damaged when dug out of the rubble. A local metallurgist, Howard Ferland, was able to repair the damage and the antique bell was hung in the new tower May 13, 2003. This was just 51 weeks after the May 20, 2002 fire.
